BioQuest Science Education
Science Education at Seattle BioMed
The future of biomedical research and the health of our world's population hinge on getting young people excited about careers in science and health. These students will generate the important scientific breakthroughs of tomorrow – but we need to invest in them today.
Through hands-on learning experiences, BioQuest propels students into the real world of science. Programs include:
- Site explorations: Half-day job shadows in which students tour Seattle BioMed, meet leading scientists and roll up their sleeves to conduct cutting-edge experiments. Site explorations take place during a school day for classes up to 32 students.
- BioQuest Academy: An intensive, two-week immersion program offering rising high school seniors the opportunity to gain laboratory experience and career training with scientists. BioQuest also mentors students for senior year activities, including support for references, college application essays and senior year projects.
- Teacher workshops: BioQuest has designed science/math curricula and workshops with an emphasis on global health and infectious disease research. These workshops provide teachers with in-depth experiences related to these topics and are highly relevant to Washington State 10th grade mathematics and science standards.
- Web site: Not everyone can visit BioQuest at Seattle BioMed in person, but all can experience it. Visit www.seattlebioquest.org to download free global health resources.
Give today to support Seattle BioMed’s BioQuest science education program. Your commitment and financial support can change lives: here and beyond.
Thank you for investing in the next generation of scientists, global health leaders and informed citizens.
